St. Thomas Aquinas and Scholasticism (Aquinas Scholium) |
| Purpose: |
The revival of Scholasticism, under the patronage of St. Thomas Aquinas, will be the theme of discussions in this group, though there will be no pretentious attempts to scholarship. The theoretical foundations of Scholasticism were first laid out by St. Augustine, with whom we state, "credere est cum assensione cogitare" (to believe is to ponder with assent) and hold the statement: Understand so that you may believe, Believe so that you may understand ("ergo intellige ut credas, crede ut intelligas"). However, not limiting to Scholasticism, other topics are welcome and will be entertained. There will be no attempt to moderate; however, argumentum ad hominems, profanities and attacks on Our Lord, His Mother and the holy Roman Church will not be tolerated and those who engage in such behavior will be have their membership terminated. |
